How Do I Evaluate a Web Development Company’s Portfolio in Pune?

Last Updated: Sep 20, 20261 min read

Screenshots lie. Or rather, they don’t lie exactly, they just show you the one good angle. A portfolio page full of polished mockups tells you almost nothing about whether the site actually works, loads fast, or is even still live.

A manufacturing client of ours in Pimpri once told us he’d clicked through every single project link on three shortlisted agencies’ portfolios before reaching out to any of them. One agency’s flagship “live” project turned out to be a broken 404. That one detail moved them straight off his list, no email required. It’s a genuinely good filter, and one most people skip because it takes fifteen extra minutes.

What actually tells you something when you’re looking at someone’s work:

  • Click the link. Actually open it, don’t trust the thumbnail
  • Look for a project in your rough industry or size, not just their biggest logo
  • Check the copyright year in the footer, tells you how recent it really is
  • Notice whether they explain what they built versus just show a pretty homepage

Pro Tip

If an agency hesitates when you ask for live, clickable links instead of a PDF of screenshots, that hesitation is the answer. Reach out and we’ll send links, not slides.
